Senior I&A Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Instrumentation and Automation Engineer to join our team for Oil & Gas projects. The successful candidate will lead the design, analysis, and implementation of instrumentation and automation systems, ensuring delivery in compliance with project requirements, industry standards, schedules, and budgets. This role includes technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of detailed instrumentation and automation designs for Oil & Gas facilities
• Select and specify field instruments including transmitters, sensors, analyzers, and control valves
• Design and implement automation systems using PLC, DCS, and SCADA platforms
• Design Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD) in compliance with IEC 61511
• Design industrial communication networks (Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, and similar protocols)
• develop Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), loop diagrams, and control schematics using AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Prepare technical specifications, design calculations, and construction drawings
• Conduct Functional Safety Assessments (FSA) and develop Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS)
• Design cable trays, conduits, and routing for instrumentation and control systems
• Develop cable schedules and ensure segregation of power, control, and instrumentation cables
• Specify instrumentation, control, and power cable types (shielded, armored, LV, MV)
• Prepare Material Take-Off (MTO) lists for cables, trays, instruments, panels, and accessories
• Develop layout drawings for instruments, junction boxes, control panels, and field devices
• Prepare detailed hook-up drawings for field instruments including mounting, wiring, and process connections
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of MTOs to support procurement and construction

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of experience in instrumentation and automation engineering within Oil & Gas projects
• Proven experience in Concept, FEED, Detail Design, and EPC projects
• Proficiency in engineering tools such as SP3D, AutoCAD, SmartPlant Instrumentation, and Exilentia
• Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (API, IEC, IEEE, NEC)
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required
