Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer to join our team, focusing on onshore Oil & Gas projects. The role involves leading electrical engineering design and execution activities, providing technical leadership, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed electrical engineering design for onshore Oil & Gas facilities
• Design high, medium, and low voltage power distribution systems including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and panels
• Design area and emergency lighting systems
• Design grounding and bonding systems to ensure safety and compliance
• Perform electrical load calculations, short circuit studies, protection coordination, and arc flash analysis
• Utilize electrical engineering software (ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, SmartPlant Electrical)
• Develop single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics using AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Prepare technical specifications, design calculations, and construction drawin
• Prepare material requisitions, perform technical bid evaluations, and review vendor drawings
• Manage electrical engineering activities from concept through EPC execution
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
• Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and process disciplines
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments
• Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, API, and IEC standards
• Conduct site assessments and support installation, testing, and commissioning activities
• Provide construction phase support including RFIs, submittal reviews, and site inspections
• Troubleshoot electrical system issues and conduct quality control inspections
• Prepare and submit regulatory and permit documentation
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and prepare project status reports

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering experience in the Oil & Gas sector
• Proven experience in Concept, FEED, Detail Design, and EPC projects
• Proficiency in electrical design and analysis software (ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, SPEL)
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, API, IEC)
• Experience with HV, MV, and LV power systems
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred
• Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and electrical safety standards is a plus
• Familiarity with SCADA, PLC, and DCS systems is an advantage
