Senior Piping Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Piping Engineer will lead the design, analysis, and implementation of piping systems for projects in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Energy sectors. This role requires strong technical expertise, project coordination skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while ensuring full compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of complex piping systems, including P&IDs, piping layouts, and isometric drawings
• Develop and maintain piping material specifications based on process, pressure, temperature, and corrosion requirements
• Perform piping stress and flexibility analysis using tools such as CAESAR II and AutoPIPE
• Create and review piping layouts using 3D modeling software (AutoCAD Plant 3D, SmartPlant 3D, AVEVA PDMS/E3D)
• Design and specify pipe supports, anchors, and guides
• Conduct hydraulic analysis and flow assurance studies
• Specify and select valves and actuators in accordance with process requirements
• Ensure compliance with piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API standards)
• Prepare material requisitions, perform technical bid evaluations, and review vendor drawings
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and engineering resources
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and start-up phases
• Troubleshoot piping system issues and conduct root cause analysis
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control procedures
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments
• Mentor and train junior engineers, promoting continuous learning and best practices
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, calculations, specifications, and reports
• Present technical and project status updates to clients and management

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of piping engineering experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Energy sectors
• Proven experience in Concept, FEED, Detail Design, and EPC projects
• Proficiency in piping design software (AutoCAD, SmartPlant 3D, PDMS/E3D)
• Strong experience with piping stress analysis tools (CAESAR II, AutoPIPE)
• In-depth knowledge of piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API)
• Experience with material requisitions, bid evaluations, and vendor document review
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required
• PE license or equivalent certification is preferred
