Mold Maker

Job Description

The Mold Maker (concrete formworker) is a specialist engaged in erecting and dismantling temporary or permanent forms (molds) for pouring concrete on construction sites. The building's foundation, columns, and floor slabs are shaped based on the framework built by mold makers.

Responsibilities

• Formwork assembly: Assembling wooden (plywood) or metal formwork systems (e.g. Doka, Peri) according to project drawings.
• Levelling: Ensuring the formwork stands perfectly vertical and horizontal (using a laser level or plumb line).
• Securing: Firmly fastening support posts, screws, and locks so the formwork does not collapse under the weight of concrete.
• Oiling: Applying special formwork oil to interior surfaces so concrete does not stick and stripping is easy.
• Coordination with rebar: Ensuring the rebar cage is correctly positioned inside the formwork before concrete is poured.
• Stripping: Removing formwork without damage after the concrete has set, cleaning it, and preparing it for the next floor.
• Working at height: Performing installation work at height on multi-storey buildings, following safety rules and using harnesses.
• Tools used: Handsaw, drill, hammer, square, tape measure, and various power cutters.
