Junior Civil Engineer

Job Description

The Junior Civil Engineer will support the design, analysis, and execution of civil engineering works within the Oil & Gas sector. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career engineers seeking hands-on experience while working under the guidance of senior engineers on site development, infrastructure, and construction support activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing civil engineering designs including site layouts, grading, drainage, and foundation systems
• Prepare and modify drawings and models using AutoCAD Civil 3D and STAAD.Pro
• Support preparation of technical specifications, design calculations, and construction drawings
• Prepare material requisitions, support technical bid evaluations, and assist with vendor drawing reviews
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Assist in developing project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
• Monitor project progress and report to the Senior Civil Engineer
• Conduct site assessments and surveys to support design and construction
• Support site preparation activities including excavation, grading, and soil stabilization
• Assist with ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and site development best practices
• Provide construction phase support including submittal reviews, RFIs, and site inspections
• Assist in troubleshooting civil engineering issues during construction
• Perform quality control inspections under supervision
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (ASCE, ACI, API)
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments
• Assist in preparing permit applications and regulatory documentation
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and project records
• Assist in preparing project status and technical reports

Requirements

• 0–5 years of civil engineering experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas sector
• Familiarity with civil engineering software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro)
• Basic understanding of industry codes and standards (ASCE, ACI, API)
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Internship or co-op experience is a plus
• Familiarity with geotechnical engineering and soil mechanics is an advantage
• Basic knowledge of construction practices and materials
