Piping Engineer

Job Description

The Piping Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of piping systems for projects within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Energy sectors. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure piping systems are designed and installed in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop P&IDs, piping layouts, isometric drawings, and 3D models
• Perform piping stress and flexibility analysis using industry-standard tools
• Select piping materials and components based on process, pressure, temperature, and corrosion requirements
• Create and review piping layouts using 3D modeling software (AutoCAD Plant 3D, SmartPlant 3D, AVEVA PDMS/E3D)
• Develop and maintain piping material specifications
• Perform piping stress analysis using CAESAR II and AutoPIPE
• Design and specify pipe supports, anchors, and guides
• Conduct hydraulic analysis and flow assurance studies
• Specify and select valves and actuators based on process requirements
• Ensure compliance with piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API standards)
• Prepare material requisitions, perform technical bid evaluations, and review vendor drawings
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering teams
• Assist in developing project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
• Monitor project progress and report to the Senior Piping Engineer
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and start-up
• Assist in troubleshooting piping system issues and perform root cause analysis
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments
• Ensure adherence to quality assurance and quality control procedures
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, calculations, specifications, and reports

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of piping engineering experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Energy sectors
• Proficiency in piping design software (AutoCAD, SmartPlant 3D, PDMS/E3D)
• Experience with piping stress analysis tools (CAESAR II, AutoPIPE)
• Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3, API 570)
• Proven experience in Concept, FEED, Detail Design, and EPC projects
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Experience with onshore and offshore projects is a plus
• Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and installation practices is an advantage
