Job Description
The Piping Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of piping systems for projects within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Energy sectors. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure piping systems are designed and installed in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop P&IDs, piping layouts, isometric drawings, and 3D models
- Perform piping stress and flexibility analysis using industry-standard tools
- Select piping materials and components based on process, pressure, temperature, and corrosion requirements
- Create and review piping layouts using 3D modeling software (AutoCAD Plant 3D, SmartPlant 3D, AVEVA PDMS/E3D)
- Develop and maintain piping material specifications
- Perform piping stress analysis using CAESAR II and AutoPIPE
- Design and specify pipe supports, anchors, and guides
- Conduct hydraulic analysis and flow assurance studies
- Specify and select valves and actuators based on process requirements
- Ensure compliance with piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API standards)
- Prepare material requisitions, perform technical bid evaluations, and review vendor drawings
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering teams
- Assist in developing project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
- Monitor project progress and report to the Senior Piping Engineer
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and start-up
- Assist in troubleshooting piping system issues and perform root cause analysis
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance and quality control procedures
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, calculations, specifications, and reports
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of piping engineering experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Energy sectors
- Proficiency in piping design software (AutoCAD, SmartPlant 3D, PDMS/E3D)
- Experience with piping stress analysis tools (CAESAR II, AutoPIPE)
- Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3, API 570)
- Proven experience in Concept, FEED, Detail Design, and EPC projects
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required
- Experience with onshore and offshore projects is a plus
- Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and installation practices is an advantage
